Andrew Krieger Obituary, Tega Cay SC Death: The Nation Ford High School community is mourning the death of their Assistant Director of Bands who passed away tragically over the weekend. Andrew Krieger was found dead from a self-inflicted injury.

According to reports, law enforcement agencies were called to a location for a body found report. The individual identified only as Andrew Krieger was confirmed deceased by arriving EMS. Condolence messages have been sent by community residents to the bereaved family.

Who Was Andrew Krieger?

Andrew Krieger was the Associate Director of Bands at Nation Ford High School. He was a South Carolina resident and a native of Tega Cay. He had seven years of experience teaching in the Fort Mill School District. He previously served as the Director of Bands at Springfield Middle School. During his stint at the Fort Mill School District, he taught drums, woodwinds, and oboe privately.

Andrew Krieger earned an undergraduate degree in music education from the University of South Carolina, as well as an oboe performance certificate. During his stay at The University of South Carolina, Mr. Krieger participated in two full album recordings under the Naxos label, one of which received a Grammy nomination, as well as concert tours in many countries and performances at national conferences. Andrew Krieger continues to perform locally with the Catawba River Winds. Mr. Krieger currently lives in Tega Cay, South Carolina, with his wife, two children, and three dogs.

Carl T. Hames: I just heard the news about Andrew Krieger. I am devastated and heartbroken to the center of my soul. I have known this man since he was a freshman in the Fort Mill Band. He was my roommate for the 2017 Macy’s trip with The Nation Ford Band. I watched Andrew as a rising star in the high school and college band world. He went on to become an amazing young music educator. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful wife and children, his parents Chris and Kathy, and his brother Matt. To Ray and the Nation Ford Band family, you are all in my thoughts during this difficult time. I am sad to learn that we have lost The University of South Carolina School of Music alumnus Andrew Krieger. Please join me in extending condolences to the Krieger family and to Andrew’s friends. In addition to serving as one of our gracious host directors since our band’s inception, Andrew was an oboist in our ensemble and had a fierce passion for music-making and sharing his musical gift with others. He was a talented performer, a remarkable teacher, and an absolute joy to those who knew him.

He will be dearly missed.
