A double shooting near the Atlanta University Centre on Tuesday killed an 18-year-old and injured a 14-year-old, according to Atlanta police. Police said they were dispatched to a petrol station at the intersection of Sells Avenue SW and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard SW around 4:18 p.m. in response to two shootings.
The petrol station is near the university center, which includes Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College. Police said they discovered an 18-year-old man, later named Raquavious Ferguson, and a 14-year-old kid who had both been shot once. Both victims were transported to the hospital. Ferguson was in critical condition when cops discovered him. Despite life-saving measures, he died of injuries at the hospital.
